1886 & 1888 Two Volume History of Oregon by Hubert Bancroft.
Two volumes, a complete subset that is part of a thirty-four-volume series, History of the United States, from the Discovery of the American Continent.
789 and 808 pages in each respective volume. Contains the often missing fold-out map of Oregon!
Almost 4.5 inches thick and 7 lbs of Oregon history: there is a fold-out map, as previously mentioned, along with some other smaller illustrations. A full table of contents and index per volume. The period covered is from 1834-1888, the year the second volume was published.
These books have a couple of quirks. Most notably the garish rebinding that has been done sometime in the last 150 years. But because of this rebind, they're able to be read and reread for years to come. Additionally, since the history books of Bancroft were published when written, one of the editions has marbled edges and the other doesn't.
The binding is super solid and square, boards are sturdy with minor rubbing to the bottom and top edge. The corners are slightly bumped.
Really a super cool set overall and a great gift for any history, book, or Oregon lover!
